Anton Paar's Specific Gravity Measuring Method Enters U.S. Pharmacopoeia Under The Name USP 29 <841>

July 25, 2007

The Specific Gravity measuring method realized in Anton Paar's DMA digital density meters has now officially entered the U.S. Pharmacopoeia. This means customers in the pharmaceutical industry now get all the advantages of Anton Paar density measurement with official approval and under an official title: USP 29 <841>.

Anton Paar's high-precision digital density meters, world-renowned for their accuracy and repeatability, are based on the oscillating U-tube principle. This groundbreaking principle is part of the company's very own history – since the first digital density meter on the market was developed and launched by the company itself. Since then, this method and its applications have continuously evolved, convincing QC operatives and researchers around the world.

And now it's official: In 2006, Anton Paar's Specific Gravity measuring method entered the US Pharmacopoeia. It is now an officially approved method and fully accords with USP 29 <841>.

Anton Paar's DMA digital density meter series are the ideal realization of this method. Customers in the pharmaceutical industry are offered unprecedented measuring economy: Expensive sample matter is saved since only a very small sample volume is required.

This in no way takes from the DMAs' accuracy – an absolute essential for pharmaceutical quality control. DMA 4500, for instance, features an accuracy of 0.00005 g/cm3. DMA 5000 actually features the highest accuracy on the market.

From bench-top R&D solutions to portables for quality control: Anton Paar keywords are ease-of-use, speed, and versatility. Automated viscosity and density measurement are combined in a single instrument, DMA 4500, which can perform up to 30 measurements in an hour, operated with powerful, user-friendly software.

Digital density measurement from Anton Paar: The method meets USP 29 <841>. The solutions aim to meet all customers' wishes.
