Carbopol resins are a family of water-soluble acrylic acid polymers and are available in dry, white powder form.

Carbopol is used in many cosmetics applications to thicken- producing a wide range of viscosities, to suspend insoluble ingredients and to stabilize emulsions.

Some of the advantages of Carbopol, compared to natural gum based thickeners, include:

• Excellent batch to batch reproducibility.
• Ability to achieve high viscosities at low concentrations
• Excellent suspending efficiency of insoluble ingredients.
• Excellent temperature stability over a -1 00C to 750C range.
• Resists bacterial attack and does not support mold growth
