Tony Stauffer, CEO of Packaging Technologies & Inspection (PTI), has over 20 years' experience in developing inspection technologies that simplify testing and validation processes. During his career, Stauffer has been awarded several U.S. patents for inspection technologies and system design. He received a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the American Graduate School of International Management in Arizona, and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in mechanical engineering from the Ingenieurschule Biel-Bienne in Switzerland. He has served as president of PTI since 1985.

In this article, we talked with Stauffer about the recent flurry of FDA activity surrounding compromised package and seal integrity, solicited his advice on selecting leak testing and inspection equipment, and got his perspective on challenges facing the pharmaceutical industry today.
