As already presented in the previous issues of FPP insight, Fresenius Kabi Product Partnering is able to offer you development and manufacturing not only of drug formulations but also of medical devices used for delivery of the drugs to the patient. One of the main goals of this exciting combination is to enhance the safety for the patient and the staff in the hospital. Therefore, this issue of FPP Insight will be focused on the medical device development and manufacturing capabilities.

At the Bad Hersfeld plant of Fresenius Kabi Deutschland GmbH's branch Clinico, one of the most efficient R&D structures for the development of disposables, has its headquarters. In an interview with the head of this R&D unit we will show you how a very effective and customer-need-driven R&D process integrates several plants to combine the strengths of each plant.The goal of the development process is always to fulfil the requirements of the customer to the highest level and achieve these tasks in the shortest possible time using the most modern IT tools available for planning, development and coordination of the project. The development is carried out in a stringent quality framework fulfilling not only European GMP but also US FDA standards.

The products resulting from such a development process can be manufactured for routine supply in several of Fresenius Kabi's manufacturing plants. In this issue we present our plant in Blonie, Poland. Since the start-up in 1996, this plant has already been enlarged twice to increase production output, and it is a high-tech production site fulfilling quality standards of European authorities and the US FDA. The staff is highly motivated to provide customers with the very best products and service.
