Orally disintegrating tablets (ODT) continue to make inroads into the market for solid dosage forms owing to its ease of use, the potential for increased patient compliance and a way to extend the product life cycle of a drug. When an ODT is placed on the tongue without water, it rapidly disintegrates with the saliva into a palatable form. The cationic EUDRAGIT® E PO, a powder form of amino methacrylate copolymer, helps in taste masking of bitter drugs and hence was chosen as a polymer of choice for the preparation of a ODT of the bitter drug Ondansetron hydrochloride.
