Turbidity And Suspended Solids: Determining The Relationship Between Turbidity And Total Suspended Solids
By Hach Company
The relationship between total suspended solids (TSS) and
turbidity is typically used to monitor sample quality in
process environments. Turbidity indicates sample stream
contamination that occurs when filters become over
saturated or a system becomes unbalanced. This procedure
is suited for use on the 2100N,2100AN, 2100P and SS6
Turbidimeter.

Slim Down With Lean Quality
By Nikki Willett, Vice President of Marketing and Regulatory Affairs, Pilgrim Software
During these turbulent economic times, everybody is talking about slimming down and becoming lean. The top 16 pharmaceutical manufacturers spent over $90 billion to manufacture drugs but half is considered wasted money and an estimated 95% of activities in any pharmaceutical plant fail to add value to the product. However, inefficiency and deviations causing one minute of downtime can cost a manufacturer over $22,000.

Women In Biopharma: Analyzing The Glass Ceiling
By Suzanne Elvidge, Life Science Leader magazine
Women make up approximately half of the world's population, but have traditionally supplied a smaller proportion of the workforce. This has been changing over the years, and by October 2009, there was a breakthrough in women's employment — according to a report by the Center for American Progress and Maria Shriver, women made up half of the U.S. workforce for the first time in history.

Application Note: Choosing The Most Suitable Theory In Laser Diffraction — Mie Or Fraunhofer?
Particle size analysis is based on the inversion of a diffusion matrix, the resolution of which is based on theories stemming from the equations of Maxwell. The Fraunhofer approximation and the Mie theory enable particle size distributions between several tens of nanometers and several thousands of micrometers to be calculated. The differences between these two models are explained in various ISO standards that serve as bases during particle size analyses.
