Using handheld Raman spectroscopy, methods were developed and evaluated for 198 substances widely used as raw materials. Development of each method required only one sample, for which a single reference spectrum was collected. After methods were built, they were directly transferred to a separate handheld Raman spectrometer. All method and sample pairings were tested, resulting in a total of nearly 40,000 challenges. A 100% correct acceptance rate and a 99.9% correct rejection rate were achieved.
