Bonfiglioli Engineering complements their leak testing machinery for Aerosol Cans with an innovative bench top Burst Testing unit. This easy to use tester is presented in two versions LF-burst-p and LF-burst-e which are described further below. In both versions the unit is made from a robust stainless steel frame with the base serving as a water reservoir. The aerosol can is manually loaded into the chamber and held by a special gripper designed for any diameter. The pressure inside the can may reach up to 25 bar by compressing water using a special designed piston using standard shop floor compressed air of 6 bar. Once the aerosol can bursts the water drops back into the reservoir and will be used for the next test cycle. A submerged pump fills the can with the recycled water for the next test.

LF-burst-p: This is a very simple to use unit where the aerosol is manually loaded into the chamber. Once started the pressure builds up inside the can. The result is indicated by a needle on the pressure monometer which fixes at the burst pressure.

LF-burst-e: This computerized bench top unit utilizes sophisticated software for controlling three test cycles. The graph of pressure vs. time is also displayed on a 12’’ display. The Cycles are as follows:

  1. Structure stability.
  2. Structure stability, deformation pressure and explosion pressure.
  3. Deformation pressure and explosion pressure.

Structure stability

  • The parameters set in this test are a) Pressure b) Time c) offset
  • The can will be pressurized to the set pressure and maintained for the set time, at the end of the cycle if the pressure remains within the offset the can is passed as good.

Structure stability, deformation pressure and explosion pressure

  • The parameters set in this test are a) Pressure b) Time c) offset
  • The can will be pressurized to the set pressure and maintained for the set time, at the end of the set time pressurization continues recording the deformation point and the explosion point.

Deformation pressure and explosion pressure

  • The can will be pressurized until the explosion, recording the deformation point and the explosion point.

Benefits:

  • No Programming required to set up
  • No Training Required
  • Easy Installation, set up and operation
  • High Degree of Repeatability
  • Low Operating and Maintenance Cost
  • Low Investment Cost
  • RS-232 port to download all the checking data or to be connected with a local printer
