Designing 2-8C° Shippers For International Shipments From US To Latin America

Source: Sonoco ThermoSafe

Abbott needed a 2-8 degree Celsius shipper for international shipments from US to Latin America. Currently some countries leave cold chain compliance management and oversight entirely to the manufacturer, and other countries require shipping temperature record with strict 2-8 degree Celsius cold chain compliance. The company wanted to maintain their transport/distribution model and focus on shipping system options.

Abbott’s shipping system needed to keep contents at 2-8 degrees Celsius for 96 hours with 3 shipping system sizes (parcel, half-pallet, and pallet). The shipping system also needed to accommodate an ambient temperature profile from Chicago to LA in the Summer as well as Chicago to LA in the winter.
