Glove Tester For Isolators

Source: Extract Technology

The glove tester can test gloves in place prior to decontamination or isolator use for pharmaceuticals.

The glove tester can test gloves in place prior to decontamination or isolator use for pharmaceuticals. The pharmaceutical glove tester consists of a control box and test plug. The control box is constructed of 304 stainless steel and is fully gasketed. It houses a microprocessor, pressure sensor and flow controller. The control box is attached to a stainless steel mobile car t. The test plug is constructed of polypropylene with a silicone inflation seal. It includes 2 stainless steel handles for easy insertion and removal. The mobile cart contains a shelf for the test port when not in use. 115 V/1 phase/60 hz/2 amp power and 30 psi clean/dry plant air is required operate the unit.

To test a glove, remove the insert from the glove port. The test plug fits into the glove port and is held in place by a thumb screw. Air and sensor lines from the control box are connected to the test plug. Starting the cycle from the microprocessor inflates the test plug gasket and seals it in place. The glove and sleeve is inflated to the stabilization pressure. After stabilization, constant air flow is supplied to the glove and sleeve. After a few minutes of constant air flow if the pressure reading of the glove and sleeve has not dropped, the glove and sleeve pass the test. If there is a pressure drop, the glove and sleeve fail. Pressure and flow values are displayed on the HMI during testing. A complete test cycle takes about 8 minutes and will detect a hole as small as a 25 gauge needle. Additional test plugs can be purchased to be used with a single control box.
