Sartopore® Platinum: A New Class Of Sterile Filtration
Sartorius Stedim Biotech has introduced a new class of sterile filtration for the biopharmaceutical industry with Sartopore® Platinum. It offers exceptional total throughput, thanks to its patent-pending TwinPleat technology with 1m2 area/10" element. At the heart of Sartopore® Platinum are PES membranes permanently hydrophilized with proprietary grafting of thermally stable polymer onto membrane surfaces. Overall cost of ownership is significantly reduced once you implement this "one-of-a-kind" sterile filter in your process. Learn more.

Very few manufacturing processes can exist in isolation, and even fewer can do so efficiently. Intelligent decisions rely on underlying data, presented in ways so that ambiguities are absent, while in a form that fosters intelligent decisions. However, in order to have data available we must routinely and consistently collect, validate, process, and store it. We can’t afford the burden of performing these tasks manually.
By Paul Kelly, Sepha Ltd. And Service Industries The choice of forming and sealing materials used depends on the degree to which the product needs to be protected from light, heat and moisture. Each material has different resistance to each of these elements and will affect the shelf life and storage conditions of the packaged drugs. Tests are usually carried out during a drug's development (stability studies) to identify which materials are most suitable, bearing in mind the differing cost implications..
By Bob Applequist, product manager, Labconco Corp. Over the past two decades in the United States, there has been an increased usage of gloveboxes for a growing number of applications. Scientists, engineers, manufacturers, and facility managers have started using new terms for these devices in an effort to better define and categorize specific glovebox applications. The terms isolator, isolator glovebox, glovebox isolator, and barrier isolator are now commonly used to describe a glovebox and its functions. Unfortunately, expedient terminology usually falls short of defining the operational requirements for any specific glovebox.
By Tim Russell, TSI Incorporated A facility monitoring system (FMS) is a process monitoring tool that collects data from sensors such as optical particle counters, differential pressure sensors, and temperature probes in real-time. Acronyms are independent monitoring system (IMS) or environmental monitoring system (EMS). Software presents that data as information; real-time alarms notify facility operators of alert limits to enable an immediate response to an unwanted event or excursion. Reports and trend graphs can be produced.
Informex USA is the premier networking, exhibition, and conference for and about the fine and performance chemical industries. The event will take place in Anaheim, CA, from February 19 to 22, 2013.
