New Depot Brings Marken Near Completion of Global Depot Network

Marken announced recently the opening of their newest clinical trials depot in Sao Paulo Brazil.

Brazil is the 8th of the 10 currently planned purpose-built depots within Marken’s network around the world. The new depot in Brazil, combined with new depots opening shortly in Chile and Peru, completes Marken’s second-phase global network design. The three new depots in South America also provide the square footage needed for the storage and distribution of clinical trial materials in the Latin America region. As with all other Marken depots, the new Brazil depot is cGMP/GDP compliant and will be co-located with its logistics operations, near the Congonhas (CGH) Airport. The Brazil facility will also operate under Marken’s global and fully validated 21CFR Part 11 proprietary software, SOLO. The SOLO IT platform is a state-of-the-industry inventory management system which interfaces with Marken’s client systems for improved inventory reconciliation at the patient level and can be accessed in real-time data from anywhere in the world.

The new depot will offer temperature controlled storage at all levels from 2-8 deg C, controlled room temperature and -20C. The depot will offer drug receipt, pick and pack, dispatch and drug return/destruction services. Gerit Offenhauser, Senior Vice President, Clinical Trials Distribution, said this, “The opening of our newest depot in Brazil brings us one step closer to the completion of our strategic depot growth plan that was put into place two years ago.”

“Our commitment, passion, and service to the support of clinical trials storage and distribution are unsurpassed by any other logistics provider. We remain 100% dedicated to the pharma and life sciences industry and we will continue to provide full service to our clients throughout every step of the clinical trial logistics process,” said Wes Wheeler, Chief Executive Office for Marken. Wes will personally be hosting the official opening and interactive supply chain workshop taking place on Thursday, August 7 at the Sao Paulo facility. Focusing on the discussion of The Challenges of Conducting Clinical Trials with Biologics & Biosimilars in Latin America, the workshop will include a depot tour and industry speakers.
