The glove port system ensures secure and reliable operation. Two piece gloves with individual gloves and sleeves allow glove change out during operation as necessary. Sleeves are directly clamped between the port and door with O-ring seals, allowing better access and ability to be thoroughly cleaned. Gloves are also attached to the sleeves using an O-ring seal, providing a secure closure while at the same time allowing quick glove changes. Glove and sleeve integrity is tested automatically using the GloveFIT system.

Isolator Door Seals
Robust door seals are required when operating sealed isolators. The revolutionary vacuum door seal consists of two elastomer seals with a vacuum actively pulled between them, assuring door security. Leak detection is also built into the system standard. Regular mechanical door seals lose their effectiveness over time as the elastomer is compressed, and leakage due to the seal cannot be directly detected. Inflatable o-ring seals are expensive, easy to damage, and will contaminate the chamber interior when they leak. Only the vacuum seal has all of the benefits necessary for a robust process:

  • Two elastomer seals on each door
  • Vacuum tight, with automatic seal leak detection
  • Provides 100% ingress and egress prevention when activated
  • Safe from contaminating the chamber environment, even if the seal is broken

Isolator / Machine Interface
The interface between the isolator and filling machine is accomplished using a series of outstanding design features. The isolator walls and corners are formed into a 20 mm radius to ensure ease of cleaning. The walls and machine plate are evenly connected on the horizontal plane using a direct elastomeric seal. A two-component epoxy seal is filled in the joint on top of the elastomer to form a perfectly smooth seal area. The epoxy used is designed and tested to withstand all cleaning solutions. This is yet another integration advantage from Bosch.
