What Is Enterprise Serialization?

For those who haven’t checked their watch lately we’d like to remind you there are only two years until California’s serialization mandates take effect. Stiff penalties await those who haven’t serialized half of their products in the state’s supply chain. So no doubt many reading this paper are trying to wrap their heads around how to meet the requirement.

The table on the right describes each year’s mandates, which build on the prior year to eventually track pharmaceutical products from packaging to pharmacy. The result will be a safer supply chain with fewer counterfeit drugs and less diversion. But as you can see, 2015 is just the beginning – 2016 and 2017 each bring new and more challenging requirements of their own. Focusing only on the present means remaining behind every year after.
