Measure Color...Measure Quality
HunterLab has been specializing in solving color problems for over 50 years.
HunterLab color measurement systems are used for research and the color quality control of a wide range of pharmaceutical products. Color is used to visually differentiate between various medications, to indicate test results on dip strips, and is frequently used in brand identity. For white powders or colorless solutions, yellowness can be an indicator of degradation and loss of potency.
Measuring the color of pharmaceutical products can be a challenge. They are in many forms including powders, solids (tablets, caplets, capsules, gels), creams, as well as syrups and other liquids. They can be opaque, translucent and transparent. There may only be a small amount to measure or the sample may be small in physical size. They may also be in sealed vials. HunterLab, an ISO 9001:2000 certified company, is expert in developing and providing instrumentation, sample handling devices and procedures for the color measurement of these difficult products. We can even create IQ/OQ/PQ protocols for you.
In the pharmaceutical industry color (or lack of color) is used as:
- An indicator of quality
- To differentiate between medications
- To indicate test results on dip strips
- Part of a brand's identity
- An indicator of degradation and loss of potency over time
