For more than 20 years Liqui-Cel® Membrane Contactors have been used to remove gasses from liquids. Our unique membrane technology allows Liqui-Cel Contactors to achieve dissolved O2 levels to 1ppb and dissolved CO2 levels to 1ppm.The pharmaceutical industry can benefit from Membrane Contactors in a variety of ways that ultimately improve yields or shelf life. Often, O2 removal can extend the product shelf life or product stability in situations where oxygen will have negative impacts on a product.
CO2 removal is also a common pharmaceutical application especially as EDI and CDI technology have become increasingly common in Ion Exchange to produce dionized water. By removing CO2 these processes operate more efficiently, thereby reducing chemical required and reducing the need for additional EDI stacks. Also, CO2 removal can be used in situations where using chemicals is not an optimal solution.
Additionally, Liqui-Cel Contactors are closed systems, so external contaminants cannot be introduced in to the system making the membrane contactor a superior choice to outdated Forced Draft Deaerator technology. Liqui-Cel Membrane contactors are also available in several FDA compliant variants and can be used for other applications.
