What manufacturers must do to comply

• Generate an electronic record that includes:
  • Manufacturer and history of each transaction, including date, sales invoice, and each serialized number transcribed
  • Drug information of each transaction, including name, lot number, NDC number, expiration date, quantity, dosage form, and strength

• Employ a track and trace solution that associates a unique serialized number to each primary package or unit of sale
  • Application of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags or 2D barcodes to each unit
  • Manufacturers of biologics must use 2D barcodes due to FDA concerns that RFID tags may impact the stability of biologic drugs

• Serialization and data management (in partnership with Secure Symbology, Inc.):
• Generation of random, serialized numbers compliant with EPC global standards or utilization of customer-provided numbers
• Management of serialized data in a secure, customer-dedicated database
• Ability to interface with enterprise or inventory management systems

• RFID tagging or 2D barcoding of products to encode serialized data

• Pedigree management and transmission (upon request)
