Contec Introduces ABRATEC™ Cleanroom Abrasive Cloths

Corrosion of stainless equipment in sterile process manufacturing is a significant problem for many life science manufacturers. Corroded surfaces are difficult to clean and disinfect because the rough surfaces do not allow good contact in wiping and provide places for bacteria to hide. This can result in sterility failures and lot rejections. Replacement equipment is a major capital expense and also represents significant loss of production due to facility downtime.

ABRATEC™ abrasive cloths are made with various levels of abrasive grits backed with Contec’s unique Quiltec® fabric. Quiltec fabric is significantly more durable and abrasion resistant than similar foambacked abrasives. This abrasion resistance and Contec sealed border technology allow the Quiltec side to remove sanding debris without contributing additional particles to the remediation process.

ABRATEC abrasive cloths are designed to work with solvents, including the IPA/water blends typically found in sterile processing environments. ABRATEC cloths are also available irradiated with a dose of 25-50 kGy, which helps maintain the integrity of sterile environments.
