In the wake of the U.S. Congress decision to pass the Drug Quality and Security Act (DQSA), Domino North America plans to increase their “Coding for Compliance” educational campaign for 2014, beginning with their involvement at the International Pharmaceutical Expo (INTERPHEX) March 18-20, 2014 at the Javits Center in New York City.

Members of the Domino staff including “Coding for Compliance” spokesperson and Pharmaceutical Business Development Manager Mark Shaffer, will be stationed at Domino’s booth #2725. The staff will be in attendance to answer questions and showcase latest product developments with partners Weiler Labeling Systems, known for advanced pressure sensitive labeling systems, and Omega Designs, a leading provider of packaging solutions.

In addition to showing new product technology at INTERPHEX, Domino will be reinforcing the theme at the core of this year’s Coding for Compliance campaign: “Now is NOT the time to experiment.” Since legislation passed on November 27, 2013, demands within the pharmaceutical industry for reliable products to satisfy the stringent requirements of processes are higher than ever. Shaffer shares his immediate observations since the law passed, “After talking with several of our pharmaceutical customers, there is a strong consensus that this mandate will end questions about possible delays. Though this legislation will preempt the California e-Pedigree, it’s not a license to slow down compliance efforts and doing so would be a tremendous error in judgment.”

Shaffer further explains, “All agree the approximate 2017 deadline equates to an opportunity to comply, NOT a reprieve. Over the next few years, companies will be faced with compliance
challenges including lack of qualified vendors, limited vendor bandwidth and time consuming implementation.”

To meet these challenges, Domino has developed serialization solutions for the pharmaceutical industry that they will be showing at INTERPHEX, such as the Weiler SPS print stand featuring the new and enhanced Domino D620iPharma Laser, an Omega unscrambler with a Domino G-Series and thermal ink jet solution, and an Omega packing station showcasing a Domino corner wrap Print and Apply Labeling system. Combined, these stations demonstrate complete automated serialization solutions.
