Jazz Pharmaceuticals Spends 50 Million Euros On Ireland Manufacturing Plant
Jazz Pharmaceuticals has decided to invest 50 million euros in Ireland and build a manufacturing plant there that will include 50 new jobs for high skill workers. The manufacturing plant, expected to be completed in 2016, will sit on over 17 acres in Monksland. Jazz Pharmaceuticals CEO Bruce Cozadd believes that Ireland is a strong place for the company to continue to grow. “
The specialty biopharmaceutical company began as a US based company and has since relocated to Ireland after its acquisition of Azur Pharma, which also develops specialty drugs. Ireland is known for having high quality, highly skilled pharmaceutical employees, along with the infrastructure necessary to develop and grow a pharmaceutical company. Cazadd noted that the access to land, roads, rail, and skilled labor were all attractive pieces for an Ireland move.
Irish Taoiseach Enda Kenny believes that Jazz Pharmaceuticals’ presence will help elevate Ireland’s economy. “This is a great boost for the local area and the 160 jobs being created in the construction phase will provide an opportunity for some of those people who lost jobs in this sector in recent years,” Kenny said.
