Multisorb Technologies has announced it will be showcasing its optimized healthcare sorbent solutions and systems at interpack 2014 in Düsseldorf, Germany. The trade fair, which operates from 08 May - 14 May, will feature 2,700 exhibitors from more than 60 countries involved with packaging and processing equipment, packaging production tools, packaging materials, and packaging services.

Multisorb will be presenting an in-booth symposium, “QbD and Sorbent Selection in Pharmaceutical Packaging” on 09-May-2014 at 15:00; 11-May-2014 at 11:00; and 12-May-2014 at 15:00.

The presentation will the discuss need for a Quality by Design (QbD) approach to sorbent selection. As the needs of the pharmaceutical industry become more complex it becomes imperative to design sorbent protection into the development process as early as possible. This presentation will offer a framework for achieving drug stability by use of an optimized sorbent solution.

In concert with this presentation, Multisorb will be highlighting its sorbent solutions and systems associated with its Calculations through Operations® program including, Drop-in, Fit-In, and Built-In sorbent platforms (available with IntelliSorb® sorbent formulations), and Multisorb dispensers - the APA® 2000 high-speed StripPax® packet dispenser with synchronized lug-chain interface (for horizontal flow-wrapping) and the APA 2000 high-speed StripPax packet dispenser with bottling line interface.

Using its Calculations through Operations program, Multisorb’s team of scientists can quickly determine which sorbent solutions are required to maintain a drug product’s or device’s desired stability and shelf life.

The Calculations component of the program includes the use of empirically-derived data in pseudo-empirical models to determine the right sorbent solution by taking into account several interdependent variables such as the packaging, the healthcare product, and the sorbent. By evaluating these variables together as a system, the correct sorbent type and quantity can be selected to assure that the healthcare product’s quality, stability, shelf life, and efficacy will be maintained.

Finding the ideal sorbent chemistry is only a portion of the complete solution. The correct sorbent configuration that is used must be based on the application, drug formulation, packaging, and functional requirements. Multisorb’s sorbents are available in Drop-In, Fit-In, and Built-In platforms.

Complex stability challenges within the healthcare market can often require IntelliSorb sorbent formulations. These intelligent formulations offer customized or multi-functional moisture, oxygen, and volatilized hydrocarbon control, with the ability to monitor and react to environmental changes, within drug product packaging or, in some cases, within the drug device itself.

As a part of the Operations component of the Calculations through Operations program, Multisorb’s drop-in solutions are designed for use with Multisorb’s dispensing machinery to create an unsurpassed system for sorbent dispensing. Because Multisorb’s sorbents are designed, manufactured, and tested with the same technology as included on its dispensing machines, Multisorb’s system approach offers easy integration of sorbent delivery into a variety of packaging lines. Many features and options are available.

Multisorb has the solution to help you maintain product integrity, improve product stability, and extend product shelf life. Stop by hall 11, stand D19 to see the presentation and learn more about how Multisorb can help you.
