Transportation of Drug products from central and regional Distribution Centers to the Point of Dispensing (Pharmacies, Hospitals) must comply with guidelines and regulations. As a consequence, the Pharmaceutical Distribution Network and its regional Distribution Centers (DCs) must implant a Cold Chain Compliance program that comprises the following items: Audit and Survey of each Site (DC) Training of personnel Mapping of all Warehousing Areas in each Site (DC) Qualification of all Storage Equipments in each Site (DC), Installation & Operational Qualification (IOQ) Installation of the Cold Chain Monitoring System to be installed in each Site (DC) Qualification (IOQ) of the Cold Chain Monitoring System installed in each Site (DC) Analysis of Seasonal Ambient Temperature Profiles during Transport for each Site (DC) Design, Test and Qualification (OQ) of Cold Chain Packaging Methods (global). This Cold Chain Compliance program was applied progressively, globally and Site by Site, to level up the compliance of the Wholesaler’s Distribution Network. Furthermore, a Cold Chain maintenance program was also installed to ensure the sustainability of the Cold Chain compliance. The implementation of such a Cold Chain Compliance program enables major North American Pharmaceutical Distribution Networks to upgrade Cold Chain management and to fully comply with the various Guidelines for temperature Control of Drug products during Storage and Transportation.
