Supply Chain Security: Associated Pharmacies, Inc. Implements SupplyScape's E-Pedigree Solution To Secure Pharmaceutical Supply Chain
SupplyScape Corporation recently announced that Associated Pharmacies, Inc. (API) has deployed SupplyScape's E-Pedigree data management solution to improve regulatory compliance, supply chain security, and trading partner collaboration. API, a buying cooperative for more than 1,000 independent pharmacies spanning 40 states, provides pharmacy owners with the buying volume leverage to lower costs for brand and generic prescription drugs, as well as over-the-counter products. API now uses E-Pedigree to comply with regulations in all states with pedigree laws, such as Florida, and with the Federal Prescription Drug Marketing Act (PDMA).
"With SupplyScape's E-Pedigree solution, we are prepared for any type of pedigree requirement," said Clint King, vice president and general manager, API. "SupplyScape closely monitors state and federal regulations and quickly incorporates support for new regulations, and that helps ease our regulatory compliance requirements."
Faced with an aggressive rollout schedule, the ability to rapidly deploy E-Pedigree as a hosted solution helped API make their deadline a reality. API leveraged E-Pedigree's flexible integration capabilities to simplify the integration of its warehouse management system (WMS) with E-Pedigree. In fact, API was able to go from project start through interoperability testing with suppliers, E-Pedigree web portal setup, and to live pedigree processing in two months.
API deploys E-Pedigree, in conjunction with case level serialization, to improve supply chain security and visibility. The company now knows where the physical drug product is for any pedigree in its system as a result of serialization at both inbound receipt and at outbound sales pick. This allows API to match physical product to pedigree and more effectively manage product returns.
The ability to exchange pedigrees electronically makes it easier for upstream trading partners to do business with API. Additionally, the E-Pedigree solution helps to enhance downstream pharmacy trust in API and the drug products it sells. "Should we need to access and retrieve the pedigrees for the drugs we purchase from API, we know they're readily and easily available through the web portal," noted Ken Wurster, independent pharmacy owner at Westshore Pharmacy in Tampa, Florida.
"API's rapid deployment track record speaks to the industry-leading flexibility, completeness, ease-of-use, and integration-readiness of our E-Pedigree solution," said Greg Cathcart, senior vice president of sales, marketing, and services at SupplyScape.
