The Linde Group Has Sold Its 100th CIRRUS Vapor Emission Control System

The Linde Gases Division announced the sale of its 100th CIRRUS VEC standard vapor emission control system, the company's solution for removing volatile organic compounds (VOC) from process gases based on cryogenic condensation. The biopharmaceutical company Organon has chosen the CIRRUS M150 VEC system to work in tandem with its existing mechanical condensation system.

API producer Organon at Apeldoorn in Holland was looking for an innovative solution to enhance an existing mechanical condensation system for the removal of VOCs like DCM, acetone and methanol from an emission flow stream with fluctuating flow rates and compound concentration.

After evaluating several vapor emission control systems, the CIRRUS M150 VEC solution was chosen for its advanced technology, adaptability and ease of expansion capability. Organon's decision was also based on The Linde Group's understanding of its processes and needs, as well as their ability to seamlessly integrate the new technology into its plant. The system from Linde has enabled Organon to comply with environmental regulations.

"We are very satisfied with the performance and reliability of the CIRRUS M150 unit," said Roel Westra, Organon utility manager. "The CIRRUS M150 VEC system achieves more than 99 per cent purification, a significant reduction in emissions, takes up less space than the older mechanical system and has much lower maintenance costs. The installation only required small changes to our existing piping and we have benefited from further cost reductions through the re-use of nitrogen."

Wim Van Dorth, application engineer of Linde Gas Benelux said, "The CIRRUS VEC solution has revolutionised the market as it enables fine pharma and specialty chemical customers to meet environmental regulations regarding the control of VOCs at reduced operating costs. With 100 units sold, the CIRRUS VEC is a great success."
