Supports sustainable packaging initiatives due to zero waste

PTI will showcase new VeriPac Package Integrity Inspection Systems at Pack Expo International, October 31 – November 3, 2010 in McCormick Place, Chicago, IL in Booth S-1349.

"The new VeriPac 400 Series demonstrates the latest evolution in VeriPac technology," stated Jesse Sklar, sales manager. The 400 Series features a patent pending single or dual vacuum transducer technology that has increased test sensitivity resulting in very consistent, reliable results. In addition to improved testing capabilities and ease of use, new features incorporate significant advances in internet connectivity and networking capabilities which enable remote operation, system monitoring and troubleshooting. We have also built in various levels of security and accessibility for operators, supervisors and technical personnel, all of which can be customized according to each company's preference and needs."

VeriPac package integrity leak test systems are available in several configurations according to package specifications and test sensitivity requirements. Packages can be flexible, semi-rigid or rigid:

  • VeriPac 225 and 225/D - Dry fill package leak testing down to 25 microns
  • VeriPac 325 and 325/D - Dry fill package leak testing down to 10 microns
  • VeriPac 415 - GMP grade test system with leak testing down to 15 microns
  • VeriPac 425 - GMP grade test system with leak testing down to 5 microns
  • VeriPac 455 - GMP grade leak detection and container closure integrity testing of liquid filled packaging down to 1.5 microns

Sklar adds, "The packaging industry as a whole has recognized the demand for better, faster inspection methods that over time cost less because less waste is produced. Destructive test methods without a data stream are being replaced by systems that conform to a uniform standard, such as ASTM. The focus and goal of PTI's inspection technologies is to exclude subjectivity from package testing, as well as maintain the integrity of the package so it can enter the market or be used for further testing. PTI's VeriPac line of test equipment has global installations for ensuring the shelf life of food and nutritional products and has been proven to reduce cost and waste for food manufacturers as well as increase quality assurance."

VeriPac technology is based on the ASTM vacuum decay leak test method F2338-09 which was developed using VeriPac instruments. Case studies in the field of container closure integrity using VeriPac vacuum decay technology have proven it is an effective, beneficial non-destructive leak test method. This technology has been widely recognized in published literature by the ASTM, PDA as well as the U.S. FDA regulatory guidance and consensus standards.

Benefits:

  • ASTM Vacuum Decay Leak Test Method F2338 (PTI developed the test method using VeriPac instruments)
  • FDA recognized test method
  • Referenced in ISO 11607 (International Organization for Standardization)
  • Non-destructive and non-invasive
  • Product not stressed or visibly marked by the test
  • No sample preparation
  • Volume of package does not affect test sensitivity or require setting changes
  • Repeatable results
  • Eliminates subjective results and operator error
  • Within 30 seconds you have a PASS/FAIL result of the package quality
  • Zero waste
