A Healthcare Company's Quality Manufacturing Issues Required A Time-Definite Delivery Solution

The pharmaceutical industry in particular relies heavily upon product integrity and time-definite delivery. Furthermore transparency throughout the supply chain and real-time product tracing and information are essential. Last but not least all of this has to be cost effective, which is a huge challenge nowadays with the rising fuel costs.

A leading global healthcare company faced significant logistics challenges due to quality issues at one of its manufacturing plants. It was of crucial importance to guarantee the time-definite delivery while maintaining the integrity of the product. The plant in question produces a range of medical solutions for drug administration purposes. The customer was challenged to continue to support the EMEA market without disruption. The additional challenge was to support the market for up to one year until the production plant came back on-line. The manufacturer supported this initiative from its existing plants in the USA, Canada, Turkey and Singapore.” It’s there where Panalpina entered into the game with a solution developed around our Dixie“Cool Plane”. The healthcare company chose Panalpina to ramp up a solution quickly, and then to provide consistent product flows for their customers in EMEA. Panalpina answered the call, first by securing three 747-400 charters for the initial stock replenishment. The second, and ongoing, phase has been to utilize the “Own Controlled Network” and commercial options to supply up to 150 tons per week.
