Conventionally blister packed tablets have been leak tested by the Methylene Blue dye test. This process being messy destructive and dependant on humean intervention may now be finally replaced by a clean, highlt precise, non-destructive leak tester which may be easily validated to micro leaks such as cracks of 3 microns.

The compact BLI machine as seen in the photo below is fed by stacking the blister packs and by a ick and place mechanism is inserted in a testing chamber. Special sensors analyse the swelling of each blister cell when applied under vacuum and will reject faulty leaking blister packs accordingly. The BLI machine is fully computerised utilising a SCADA platform. The software is easy to operate and includes utilities such as a products database, Statistical reports etc. A printer is also installed for printing test results and parameters. The output may easily reach 600 cph which makes it ideal for non-destructive testing of expensive drugs. Laboratory semi-automatic models are also available.
