Healthcare Cold Chain Management

Source: SDV

As a biopharmaceutical group, our client’s mission is to develop, manufacture and market medicinal products for serious and often rare diseases. It has been expanding internationally with different subsidiaries namely in Brazil, Germany and the UK. These subsidiaries allow the group to market high-therapeutic potential plasma-derived medicinal products.

Our client’s expertise in the manufacture of plasma-derived medicines products has been acknowledged worldwide. In addition to importing medicinal products, several areas entrust the biopharmaceutical group, in addition to importing medicinal products, with the task of manufacturing plasma-derived products for their hospital requirements. This process is called «third parties production activities». In 2008, the group fractionated plasma from Brazil and sent back the medicinal products derived from this plasma to this country.

The challenge was to manage a complete multi modal transportation loop between Brazil and France, maintaining the integrity of product through a highly secured Cold Chain.

The inbound flows are frozen blood transported in 40’ ft reefer container at – 20°C from Sao Polo to Antwerp ports with a final truck delivery to the production site in northern France.

The outbound flows are finished products transported strictly between +2/+8°C by air with Envirotainers.
