In just under 18 months, A&B Process Systems expanded its manufacturing capacity with the erection of the new Plant 1 – a 36,000 square foot ASME certified facility specially designed to produce large-scale process vessels and super skids for the pharmaceutical industry. For A&B Process Systems, a national leader in the design, fabrication, automation, testing and installation of stainless steel process systems for the pharmaceutical industry, customer input was integral to the design of the facility. "Time to market is critical to pharmaceutical manufacturers," states Glenn Linzmeier, President and COO of A&B Process Systems. "Our goal was to erect a facility that would streamline processes and enhance communication between design and production – with the ultimate goal of shorter lead times for our customers. We listened to what our customers wanted and designed the facility around that."

The result is a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility with 36,000 square feet of manufacturing space with an additional 24,000 square feet that houses A&B designers, automation engineers and fabricators under the same roof. The ASME certified facility provides a controlled environment necessary to meet the regulatory standards of the pharmaceutical industry, ensure high purity, and prevent cross-contamination. It also incorporates automated welding process ses and advanced finishing processes, as well as a designated area for factory acceptance testing (FAT).

"From start to finish, the needs of our customers dictated the design of Plant 1. The facility has higher bays and more overhead crane capacity with a 31 foot under hook height and 50 ton lifting capacity for large and small tanks and super skids," explains Ron Herman, Director of Sales. "We specifically designed the facility based upon the regulatory guidelines that dictate good manufacturing practices (cGMP) for the pharmaceutical industry. And we incorporated offices and conference rooms into the design to provide our customers with a place to work while visiting the facility."

A&B Process Systems will showcase its capabilities for the pharmaceutical industry, including Plant 1, at INTERPHEX 2008, from March 25 – 28, in Philadelphia. Representatives from A&B Process Systems will be in booth 552.
