Kronos' Gregg Gordon Talks Lean Labor In Life Sciences Manufacturing

Source: Kronos Inc.

By Lori Clapper, Editor

I recently had the chance to talk with Gregg Gordon, senior director, industry marketing at Kronos, about his take on lean labor in pharmaceutical manufacturing. He just released his first book called Lean Labor. Why tackle this topic now? Developing countries are a double-edged sword for manufacturers. It means new markets for their products, but it can also result in the entry of new low wage competition. With the access to raw materials, technology, communication, and distribution increasingly becoming equal in all countries, the two levers a manufacturer has against these growing competitors is lead time and the effectiveness of their workforce.

Lean Labor is a guidebook that provides manufacturers with a step-by-step process of evolving to a highly effective workforce. It is illustrated by practical examples of what successful companies are doing today to compete with low wage competition through the use of lean methodologies.
