Established in 1961, IMA is the world leader in the design and manufacture of automatic machines for the packaging of pharmaceutical products and of tea in filter bags.
Its position of leadership is the result of significant investments in R&D, regular and constructive dialogue with the end-users in its sectors and the Group's ability to expand internationally, conquering new markets. Its history features a constant growth that has enabled the Group to close the year 2007 with a consolidated turnover of 454.5 million Euro, more than 92% of which destined for export. Total sales of IMA are for 83% in the pharmaceutical sector and for 17% in the tea sector.
The Group has more than 3,000 employees, more than 1,400 of whom overseas, and is present in over 70 countries, supported by a sales network made up of 9 branches (Spain, Portugal, France, the UK, Germany, Austria, the USA, China and Thailand), representative offices in central-eastern Europe and more than 50 agencies. IMA is committed in 2 production joint-ventures in China. The Group has 17 production plants in Italy, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, the USA, India and China. IMA S.p.A. has been listed on the Milan Stock Exchange since 1995 and in 2001 joined the STAR segment.
The Group's new organizational structure features four leading business areas in the main sectors: IMA Flavour (Tea & Coffee Packaging Solutions), IMA Active Division (Solid Dose Solutions), IMA Life (Aseptic Processing & Filling Solutions), and IMA Safe (Packaging Solutions).
One of the main objectives of this new set-up is to be more incisive in these pertinent sectors, while maintaining the focus on market requirements. This renewed image emphasises the values that the Group has built up over almost 50 years in the business: experience and reliability, a world-wide support and service network, excellent ability to meet customers' requirements. IMA Active Division offers a complete range of machines for processing and production of solid dose products - granulation equipment, tablet press machines manufactured both by IMA and by Kilian, capsule filling machines, coating systems, checkweighers for capsules and tablets and powder handling and washing systems manufactured by Zanchetta.

IMA Life - Aseptic Processing & Filling Solutions
IMA Life offers machines for washing and sterilising pharmaceutical vials, filling and stoppering machines for aseptic environments, filling and closing machines for pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, microdosing machines for aseptic powder filling and, thanks to the acquisition of IMA Edwards, freeze-drying machinery. IMA Life also offers labellers, blowing machines, depackers and traying machines.

IMA Safe - Packaging Solutions
IMA Safe offers the widest range of blister machines on the market, from low to extremely high speed (up to 1,300 blisters/minute) including Precision Gears machines, counting machines manufactured both by IMA and by Nova Packaging Systems and Swiftpack Automation, tube fillers manufactured by Co.ma.di.s. suitable to fill pharmaceutical and cosmetics products, horizontal and vertical cartoners manufactured by IMA Safe for the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries.
