Bosch uses the term "Powder Filling" to refer to the process of aseptically filling powder into vials for later reconstitution before injection. Powdered drugs are becoming more and more common because of their extended shelf life. The many years of practical experience that Bosch has gained in the area of powder processing have been focused into solutions for the development of the AFG 3000 Series.

These fillers feature a sealed powder infeed system, easy cleaning of all product contact parts, automatic adjustment of fill weight during production and 100% in-process control. Fields of application include dosing of sterile powders into injection vials and infusion bottles, followed by closing with rubber stoppers.

Bosch offers a range of powder filling equipment in its AFG product line:

• The AFG 1010 low output filler, based on the Bosch MRF 1010, features an auger dosing system. Maximum output is 80 vials per minute (70 per minute if vials are capped).
• The AFG 3010 mid-range filler, built on the FLC machine frame, offers fully automated checkweighing and adjustment of the dosing weight during production by the in-process control (IPC). Maximum output is 160 vials per minute.
• The AFG 3020, based on the high-output FLM design, uses a two-head dosing system which increases output to 320 vials per minute.

Standard features for all AFG powder filling machines include a base machine with conveyor infeed and outfeed, a powder dosing station which serves as the core of the system, a stoppering station, and an aluminum overcapping station.
