Brochure: ACCUClean Tank Cleaning Nozzle (Series 515)

Source: Lechler Inc.

The Lechler ACCUClean tank cleaning nozzle is a gear-driven whirling unit which is designed for controlled rotation and maximum spray impact. Free spinning tank cleaners create greater atomization as the inlet fluid pressure is increased. That is, the higher the pressure, the smaller the droplets. And the smaller the droplets, the less impact they make upon a target. But for tank cleaning, greater impact is desired. If you crank the pressure up too high for a free spinning tank cleaner, you wind up spraying a mist – not good for cleaning. That is why free spinners operate optimally at a low pressure between 30 and 50 psi.

Lechler created the ACCUClean for applications where greater spray impact was needed. We did this by installing into it an internal turbine and a simple gear train to turn the head of the unit and thus evenly control its rotation speed. Therefore, though you can increase the pressure to as much as 150 psi, the head rotates at the same speed as it does for a much lower pressure. As a result, atomization, and therefore spray impact, is relatively constant over a wide range of inlet pressures.

Depending on the connection size, the ACCUClean can clean tanks ranging from 10'-20' in diameter. It is made primarily of 316L stainless steel.

Typical cleaning applications:

  • Medium to large tanks
  • Cleaning difficult soil or residue (such as toothpaste) from tank walls
