Practices Using Carbon In The Production Of Fine Chemicals

Source: 3M Purification

Carbon has been used in the pharmaceutical industry for many years to reduce impurities in production processes. These impurities are typically derived from chemical reactions producing colored by-products. Carbon is used to reduce chemical impurities as it has many structural characteristics that are suitable.

This 3M Purification Inc. Customer Application Brief describes a traditional process using bulk carbon compared to the same process using the Zeta Plus™ Activated Carbon filter cartridge system where the carbon is immobilized in an easy-to-use cartridge form.
