ABSL-3 Facility For Duke (National University of Singapore)

Germfree constructed a modular ABSL-3 facility for Duke (National University of Singapore) in 2014. The facility was specifically designed for disease surveillance, research on highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI), and other emerging risk group 3 materials. The main requirement was to house large animals in cages.
The solution provided by Germfree was a 5-module ABSL-3 facility that included various features necessary for the research and surveillance activities. These features included APR doors, a necropsy suite, a cage washing station, and large double door autoclaves for hazardous waste management. The facility underwent certification and licensing by the biosafety branch of the Singapore ministry and has successfully maintained recertification on an annual basis. Germfree continues to provide support for the facility through their service office in Singapore.
