Albemarle To Increase Ibuprofen Prices
Specialty chemicals maker Albemarle Corporation , a leading global manufacturer of the anti-inflammatory agent ibuprofen, will increase the prices for its ibuprofen products $4.50 /kg worldwide, effective October 1, 2008.
The price increase applies to Albemarle 40 and Albemarle 70 Ibuprofen grades (40- and 70-micron particle-size bulk products, respectively), as well as ALBE-TAB Ibuprofen products, which are direct compressible formulations optimized for tablet production.

"While raw materials have increased at an unprecedented rate over the past year, we have continued to invest in our business to ensure Albemarle meets the growing demands of our customers. This price increase will ensure we maintain the superior quality and delivery that our customers require and have come to expect from Albemarle."
Albemarle's Fine Chemistry Services (FCS) division makes and markets bulk and niche active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) for over-the-counter and prescription drugs, and provides custom manufacturing, R&D and other services to makers of pharmaceuticals, agricultural chemicals, specialty polymers and other high-value markets.
