Prior to purchasing an analytical laboratory instrument, a number of criteria should be considered by the individual or group responsible for the purchase. While the initial price is a factor, it is not wise to base a buying decision solely on this or any one criterion. Operating costs, instrument specifications and performance, manufacturer reliability, and many additional factors should all be researched and considered.
