Anotest YD8 is designed to test the quality of the density of anodized coatings on aluminum and aluminum alloys for decorative anodized coatings and hard anodized coatings.
The device features a self-adhering rubber ring used to attach to the measurement area. A few drops of test solution are placed into this ring after which a cable is used to ground the instrument. A probe tip is used to establish the electrical connection to the measurement cell, creating a capacitor with the compressed oxide coating serving as dielectric. The admittance is measured and displayed directly in mS.
