Bioreactors are commonly used in bioprocessing to cultivate cells, microorganisms, or biological molecules for applications such as the production of biopharmaceuticals, enzymes, or biofuels. Removal of spent media and replenishment with fresh media while retaining cells and/or the protein of interest is required for intensified cell cultures.

Some methods for separating these components from the bioreactor use an alternating tangential flow (ATF) system. Learn more about ATF systems, and how large-diameter aseptic connections between bioreactors and ATF systems are crucial for sterilizability, ease of handling, flow rate, scalability, minimizing shear stress, and process contamination.
