Axway And Control Form Alliance As Part Of Global Track & Trace Initiative
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz --(Business Wire)-- Control, a Domino Group company, has joined Axway's Global Track & Trace Alliance which was created to provide a complete solution for global serialization and track and trace efforts. The alliance is comprised of various organizations that contribute their respective expertise in securing the pharmaceutical supply chain. Axway established the Global Track & Trace Alliance in April 2008.
The global pharmaceutical industry is continually in search of new approaches and technologies to improve efficiencies in their production lines, while ensuring the safety and security of the prescription drugs that travel through several layers of manufacturers, wholesalers and distributors before reaching patients. With the escalating threat of counterfeit drugs, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, many states in the U.S., and several European countries have enacted or proposed regulations that will require serialization of products to enable prescription drugs to be tracked through the entire healthcare supply chain. As a result, all organizations involved require solutions to improve production efficiencies and provide visibility into the supply chain to safeguard against counterfeiting and diversion. The principal goal of Axway's Global Track & Trace Initiative is to offer a solution that achieves these objectives.
Axway and Control will pool their core competencies: Axway will supply its expertise in ePedigree and track and trace, while Control will offer a wide range of solutions, including validated mass serialization and aggregation software, ink jet, high resolution laser printing, data matrix coding and RFID technologies for automating and optimizing pharmaceutical manufacturing production lines and data tracking.
"Pharmaceutical companies, contract manufacturers, and contract packagers are increasingly interested in deploying solutions that meet their business objectives as the healthcare industry unites against counterfeiting and diversion," said Sia Zadeh, director, business development, Axway. "Axway will continue to bring additional partners into the alliance to help formulate the strongest offering for the life sciences industry. We believe assembling a best-of-breed solution that leverages the expertise of numerous organizations will ultimately be the most complete solution to safeguard the pharmaceutical supply chain and consumers from counterfeiting and diversion."
"Today's pharmaceutical companies need to improve manufacturing production line efficiencies to meet the global demand for prescription drugs," said John Pitts, sales and marketing director, Control. "This alliance marks an important step forward for the pharmaceutical companies, contract manufacturers and contract packagers. It brings together organizations with the right expertise to provide the best solution for key business requirements and regulatory compliance."
Axway's contribution will consist of its Synchrony Supply Chain Integrity Suite, which improves operational efficiency through supply chain visibility, assures data integrity in supply chain transactions, enables product authentication, streamlines reverse logistics processes and can be integrated with existing enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
