Optical Character Recognition (OCR) Fonts Now Available In Quadrus MINI Imagers

Microscan introduced new capabilities to the Quadrus MINI series imagers, with the addition of Optical Character Recognition (OCR) font reading. This added functionality makes the Quadrus MINI series the only imagers in their class with the ability to decode and compare both traditional barcodes and 2D symbols, as well as OCR fonts all within the same field of view.

"This is great news particularly to the packaging industry where traceability requirements can often include both human readable OCR fonts and traditional symbologies," commented Matt Van Bogart, Product Manager. "Now Quadrus MINI solves both needs with a single imager."

The new OCR font option is available in Quadrus MINI and Quadrus MINI Velocity models and supports OCR-A, OCR-B, and MICR fonts. Enabling the imagers to read OCR fonts is simple, with no special parameter adjustments required. Other Quadrus MINI features include powerful decode algorithms, compact size, dynamic real time autofocus, high speed reading, wide field of view, Easy Setup Program (ESP), multiple outputs for controls, and application routines such as match-code and daisy chain.
