Bioanalytical Systems adopts Innaphase technology to expedite drug development services
InnaPhase Corporation, the first and only provider of end-to-end software solutions for early drug development teams, today announced that Bioanalytical Systems, Inc. (BAS) has signed an agreement to implement InnaPhase's Watson Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) at their West Lafayette, Indiana facility.
The Watson LIMS system is the only LIMS designed specifically to provide a protocol-driven, GLP-compliant environment that specifically supports DMPK/Bioanalytical studies in drug development. Watson maintains regulatory compliance with the FDA's 21 CFR Part 11 guidance on electronic records and signatures, and has an established track record of accelerating bioanalysis and sample management processes in drug development.
Aided by recent increases in outsourcing by many major pharmaceutical companies, contract research organizations (CRO's) have grown dramatically over the past several years and have become an increasingly important link in the drug discovery and development process. The significant growth and competition in the outsourcing market is placing increasing pressure on CROs to provide rapid, high quality turnaround on sample and data analyses to meet customer demands.
"Many of our customers are currently using the WatsonTM LIMS system and have been very impressed with its reporting and time-saving capabilities," said Ronald Shoup, PhD, president of the BAS Analytics contract services division. "By implementing Watson, we anticipate general increases in productivity, more effective data exchange capabilities and a streamlined system consistent with those used within our target market."
"Many companies within the pharmaceutical industry are looking for ways to standardize their data within systems that are compliant with GxP and Part 11 guidelines," said Gary Rathsmill, senior vice president, product research of InnaPhase Corporation. "Watson LIMS allows organizations to achieve their data standardization and centralization goals and increase efficiency in the bioanalytical laboratories."
InnaPhase Corporation also develops and markets the Enterprise Pharmacology Series (EP Series), a scalable technology solution that centralizes the analysis and management of early drug development data. This protocol-driven system provides intelligent data import and export components, a flexible cross-study data-mining tool and a powerful PK/PD analysis, simulation and reporting module. InnaPhase offers its Enterprise Pharmacology Series solution at a reduced cost for those customers that are currently utilizing Watson LIMS. When these two systems are implemented alongside each other, customers are able to take advantage of the only system that seamlessly supports early drug development from laboratory to final report.
BAS provides research and development resources to the basic research community and many of the leading pharmaceutical, medical device, animal health and biotechnology companies in the world.
