Brooks Instrument Releases Enhanced Software Tools For Mass Flow Meters And Controllers
Brooks Instrument is pleased to announce the release of an enhanced version of its Smart DDE software which has been updated to be fully compatible with Microsoft Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Vista. Brooks Smart DDE software for Microsoft Windows is a translation program, or driver, that makes it easy to communicate with the Brooks line of digital mass flow meters and controllers through other Windows applications which support Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE). This enables users to communicate with one or more Brooks digital mass flow meters or controllers using commonly available Windows applications (e.g. Microsoft Excel).
Smart DDE is designed to allow users to access the configuration data in the device, take measurement data from the device and, in the case of the mass flow controllers, send setpoint values using the Windows DDE facilities. The protocol used for the communication between the mass flow meters and controllers and the Smart DDE software is based on the HART command set and can take place over either RS-232 or RS-485, whichever is appropriate to the flow instrument.
How is this version of Smart DDE different from past versions?
- Smart DDE is now fully compatible with the latest Microsoft Windows products including Windows Vista
- It is now fully compatible to support Brooks' SLA (Smart Link Advantage) Series of thermal mass flow meters and controllers
- The link between Smart Service and Smart DDE has been improved
For more information about the updated Smart DDE software, please reference the user manual located on in the Documentation section of BrooksInstrument.com under "Software Tools".
