Cell Culture Media Mixing In A Benchtop LevMixer™ Single-Use Mixer

Efficient powder-liquid mixing is essential for preparing high-quality media and buffers in biopharmaceutical workflows. This study highlights the performance of the LevMixer™ 10 L single-use mixing system in dissolving and homogenizing powdered cell-culture media, including HyClone™ peak expression medium and DMEM with high glucose. The mixer generated a strong vortex, ensuring complete dissolution and uniformity. Following mixing, sterile filtration using the Supor™ Prime filter demonstrated comparable results to a reference filter, confirming its reliability in maintaining media purity. Importantly, consistent pH and conductivity readings before and after filtration validated the integrity of the media—critical for reproducibility in both research and manufacturing.
