Source: International Products Corporation

Cleaning validation is the method used to assure that a cleaning process removes residues in medical devices and pharmaceuticals of a product manufactured. The cleaning aids utilized in the cleaning process and the microbial attributes. All residues are removed to pre-determined levels to ensure the quality of the next product manufactured is not compromised by waste from the previous product.

The following qualitative procedures describe how to establish a cleaning validation method for vessels, parts, and surfaces that are otherwise difficult to visually inspect.

  • Conductivity - This method exploits the sodium content of the following cleaners to determine concentrations using conductivity.
  • Methylene Blue - This method exploits the formation of a sulfonate-methylene blue complex to determine trace quantities of cleaner residue.
