Comar, Inc. Announces Plan To Offer A "Printed Dosage Cup" For Use In General And Pediatric Markets!
Comar Incorporated announced recently that it is building a new manufacturing line to produce a standard-design Printed Dosage Cup for the general and pediatric markets. AccuCup, expected to be available in late 2nd quarter of 2008, with its calibration lines printed in black, FDA-compliant food-grade ink, will be much easier to see and enable a more accurate measurement than a dosage cup with translucent engraved or embossed lines.
AccuCup will be offered to the general market with the flexibility to fit popular child-resistant closures from 22 to 24mm in diameter. In addition, customers may specify custom calibrations, instructions and logos printed with FDA-compliant food-grade inks in selected colors, 360 degrees around the outside surface of the cup. AccuCup will also be available in inventory as a standard cup with milliliter and generic teaspoon markings. If desired, a customer will have the added advantage of engaging Comar's Engineering Design Team to develop a custom rib configuration inside the AccuCup to fit unique cap design requirements.
According to Mike Ruggieri, President of Comar, "our decision to build the AccuCup production line was a response to the pharmaceutical industry's and FDA's recent concerns over the safety and effectiveness of selected OTC pediatric liquid cough and cold medications. We decided to take a proactive position on this issue, by offering customers the option to select an easier-to-read alternative to engraved dosage cups currently in the market".
Comar's strategy to launch the AccuCup complements the existing oral syringe product line already targeted to support the pediatric market. The COD (Comar Oral Dispenser) is designed with a patented 1-piece plunger and a "gland-style" seal that eliminates a separate rubber tip or grommet as a potential choking hazard. This unique design also promotes smooth finger action for drawing and dosing liquid medications, with reuse after washing. Mr. Ruggieri further stated that, "through the recent expansion of our COD production line, Comar will soon offer fast 4–6 week lead times on a dosing device that is rapidly growing in popularity for use in pediatric drug, general health and personal care markets." The COD line includes 1mL, 3mL, 5mL and 10mL volume syringes, optional color-coded plungers, a clarified barrel with easy to read calibration markings, color-coded "No-Choke" tip-caps and a line of "Press In Bottle Adapters" that enable a clean, no-spill draw of liquid from an inverted medication bottle.
Comar's new AccuCup, COD line and its market-leading array of glass and plastic dropper assemblies positions Comar well as a leading supplier of liquid-dosing devices to the pediatric market.
