Combination Containment And Roller Compaction Technologies At INTERPHEX 2013

Gerteis Maschinen+Processengineering AG will exhibit the latest roller compaction technology for the development and small scale production at the Interphex 2013.

Cutting edge performance for pharmaceutical development requires easier and better containment solutions in today markets. The containment package is a joint venture between Gerteis and Solo Containment and has been developed as a competitively priced containment upgrade for clients handling OEB 3 and 4 API compounds. The system design may be modified to suit any model in the extensive Gerteis roller compactor range. Gerteis will demonstrate the MINI-PACTOR® running with powder at booth 1960.

The MINI-PACTOR® has a production capacity from 10g per trial, suitable for first stage experiments and development work, up to 100kg/h for small scale production. Smallest footprint in combination with unique feeding capabilities and process control will guarantee perfect dry granulation results from the first granule to the last. The gentle roller compaction process, patented by Gerteis, ensures uniform granule properties, avoids recycling and minimizes temperature impact to your products.

The containment package features a full negative pressure airflow system with multi stage H14 HEPA filtration system to assure high standards of containment performance. Solo will guarantee containment performance better than 1.0µg/m³ when their detailed IH procedures are followed.

To minimise risk of API track out the isolator is equipped with an entry airlock – serviced by gas tight zipper doors, a central API transfer chamber to the PACTOR®. This is available with a wide range of options. Finally API contaminated waste may be discharged using a compact Bi/BO system located next to the exhaust HEPA filter.

To contain API at the PACTOR® outlet, the Solo team are providing a compact continuous liner system to suit the Interphex show set up.
