Comecer Adds To Its Equipment Portfolio With Purchase Of DF

Comecer President Simone Volpi: “With DF we will have a complementary product portfolio”

Comecer Group, a leading manufacturer of aseptic manufacturing and packaging equipment for the radiopharmaceutical and pharmaceutical industries, will be able to rely on the technology and know-how of DF, a company based in Siena that specialises in handling and packaging equipment and systems for pharmaceuticals.

The operation is part of the acquisition of DF by ATS Automation Tooling Systems Inc., the Canadian multinational that is also the parent company of Comecer Group. The final agreement was announced on Tuesday 28th September 2021.

“The arrival of a company like DF provides Comecer with a complementary product portfolio that enables us to improve our overall offer, particularly in the area of ​​aseptic fill finishing production,” said Comecer President Simone Volpi. “With the arrival of DF, we also see opportunities for joint product development and cross-selling through Comecer and DF’s portfolios, which will help drive the future growth of our businesses.”

DF is a supplier of specialised manufacturing equipment and systems mainly aimed at the pharmaceutical market, with a growing presence in other markets as well, including food. The company’s offer includes washing, sterilisation, packaging, and control solutions in compliance with the industry’s strict requirements. “This agreement, as stated by DF Group owners Massimo and Duccio Boldrini, positions our business on international markets, which is a guarantee for future development in Siena.”

“Acquiring the technology of a company like DF – explained Emiliano Spagnolo, Director of Global Sales & Business Development at Comecer – allows us to raise the bar of our product offer, proposing highly innovative solutions that can be increasingly customised in order to enhance our global presence in primary packaging for medicines and radiopharmaceuticals”.

As specified by ATS, the operation is expected to be finalised in the fourth calendar quarter of 2021, pending the completion of the usual regulatory documents. The financial details of the operation have not been disclosed.
