Jenike & Johanson, Inc.s:
- Measures bulk density over a range of pressures
- Furnishes data for Jenike Shear Tester analyses (hopper geometry)
- Provides data used to calculate both bin loads and capacities
- Can be used to determine crush-resistance of material particles

General Testing Procedure:
- Base is filled level to the top with uncompacted sample
- Cover is placed on material, centered within base
- Weight hanger is set on cover
- Indicator holder is positioned on base
- Indicator reading (height of material) is recorded for initial pressure (weight of hanger)
- Selected weights are added to hanger and new height readings are recorded
- Bulk density, GAMMA, is then calculated from net material weight and height under each vertical load
