Contract Manufacturing of Metered Dose Inhalers (MDIs)

MDIs are manufactured employing both chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) and hydrofluroalkane (HFA) propellant technologies. HFA products include Metered Dose Inhalers for respiratory ailments and Metered Dose Oral Spray, which is a nitrate propelled HFA aerosol that is used for prescription and over- the-counter products, primarily for cardiac ailments.

We have two filling lines. One MDI manufacturing line produces CFC propelled inhalers. The CFC manufacturing line has a capacity of over 30 million units annually, based on three shifts per day. The second MDI manufacturing line produces CFC-free or HFA inhalers.

Our HFA line is capable of manufacturing in excess of 9 million units annually. This line consists of valve placements, filling, check-weighing and packing operations. It is also capable of bulk manufacture feeding and comes with integrated downstream packaging.

With respect to secondary packaging, two discrete areas are utilized capable of handling a wide range of products and packaging materials on an automatic, semi-automatic and manual basis.

The MDI packaging lines are capable of packaging material via check-weighers, function testers, labeling, cartoning, shrink-wrapping, coding and palletizing equipment. These packaging lines have the capacity to produce over 33 million units annually.
